Rehabilitation: to restore to good or to reinstate

What we see above is the definition of the word (rehabilitation) and how it is used in the Virginia Department of Corrections is not even close or even on the same page. What is the purpose of using such a word (rehabilitation) if the system doesn’t believe in it or use it in the correct manner? Before you can rehabilitate an offender, you have to also do the same with procedures and personnel who run these slave camps they call correctional centers. Watching from the front lines of the battlefield here in Greenville I’ve witnessed on a everyday basis the misconduct and oppression or just plain hatred towards offenders. Wanting to better yourself is a joke inside of the prison walls because you are always lied to or misguided and just passed on to the next for another set of lies. Yes I know there are some offenders who are not looking to change or become better but what about those like myself who are not given no type of help but somehow manage to become modest offenders and a example of a better tomorrow? I’ve heard over a million times I gotta want to change and become better as I serve out my time but I counter that statement with (What happens when the system refuses to change)? There is no I in Team so when will the system be held responsible for their lack of progress and actually put in place a real Prison Reform or Rehabilitation that helps the offenders and not still money?

Justice and Justification is not only for the victim’s, but it is also for the defendant’s who are wrongly convicted and over sentenced pass their guidelines and prosecuted by bias judges and prosecutors on a bias and profitable justice system here in the state of Virginia that sends those off to a prison that lies and does not believe in Rehabilitation or Prison Reform but only in warehousing or dehumanizing those that they house. As a offender myself I can say I’ve witnessed and was part of the corruption and back door deals mad by the lawyers who swore to represent us (offenders) in these times of needs and to get the best outcome in the favor of the defendant, but as those who don’t know a lawyers only protection is the Commonwealth of Virginia and not the one he/she is representing. As I have almost finished out my 5 years and 9 months sentence I strongly advise my fellow peers to let their pens tell the truth of how the Virginia Prison System and the Department of Corrections and current Governor Glenn Youngkin have manipulated those in society to not believe in warehousing humanity like livestock and never giving a second look into these worn down prisons that house us and neglect our needs and oppress us (offenders) far as getting an education, programs that actually help, better healthcare and food that is rich in nutrients and is consumable and don’t cause health problems down the road. Bring change to the Department of Corrections because they are not correcting anything. They are stealing money and peoples lives our lives the (offenders).

What is Justice? The Webster's dictionary say 1. moral rightness; equity. 2. Fairness. 3. The administration and procedure of law. 4. A judge. It is sad that this word (Justice) only applies for court rooms, victims and the department of corrections, but never for the offender who is sent to prison. We offenders are misled by the system of another chance at life or bettering ourselves. They talk about all these good programs they have to offer and how keeping your head on a swivel will help but it’s all lies. Being here at Greensville, a level three compound and the biggest compound in the state of Virginia you are always short staffed and you have nobody there really cares to help the offenders. They apply these levels and security points to your file for what? Because at the end of the day you are thrown into the abyss of the prison system and abandon. We are savagely oppressed by those in power and due to the system here at Greensville, you file a complaint against a staff member. They either sign off on it or one of their buddies do and you get the complaint form back with a bs answer that we (offenders) know is straight trash. This letter is not to forget that me or my peers have made mistakes that have landed us either back again or their first time in prison. It’s to let people and the world know that the prison system here in Virginia does not care about correcting those mistakes. They only care about profits and stealing funds and continuing to create the worst in those they warehouse by mentally and emotionally abusing them down to poor healthcare and feeding us worst than stray animals.

Where is the truth in freedom for an offender in the Virginia prison system? I can’t stomach the hatred of how we are picked over and left for dead and just deserted like we don’t matter. Becoming better is a joke, and only matters when there is a political campaign, or there is some type of publicity that can be gained from it. There is no real attributes, or positive gains from being incarcerated. I’ve seen only those who refuse to change or cause the most drama be put on a silver platter and give them the opportunities that they don’t deserve but those like myself who are modest, and are changing to become better and want more out of life, or not given the slightest time of day. How can we have a successful rate of offenders who don’t return when the system refuses to give the proper attention and use the resources to better place that offenders on the right path to a successful stories and not a negative one. Determined to break the barriers of how offenders are displaced and looked upon. There is a lot of offenders with Success stories that need to be shined upon, but it’s a very difficult task when you are neglected and pushed to the side for those who don’t care to change at all. So when we are categorized into one big circle of negativity and just looked at as one and not an individual.

Where is the “hope” at in the prison system? To tell the truth their is not any really. Like myself and others you are warehoused and just seven digits until you are released or you die. So I ask those who can make change and better the system (Congress and The Department of Corrections) what are you going to do so that offenders really have a chance at society again and not become seven digits again? I’ve witnessed those go down the rabbit hole and never to return because of the lack of mental and emotional therapy programs and actually a system that gives the offender a better understanding of where he made his mistake or mistakes at and really place him in the correct facility to help him instead of just throwing him into the “abyss” of the prison system and forgotten about him. We as offenders can’t change if the proper channels or personnel refused to change or see their faults as they hold us to. There has to be a common grey area for greatness and betterness it can’t stay black and white because it will only get worst.

PRISON REFORM IS A LIE HERE IN VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. WE ARE WAREHOUSED AND JUST SET UP FOR FAILURE AND TO RE-OFFEND.THERE ARE NO TRUE INTENTIONS ON LETTING US RIGHT OUR WRONGS. WE ARE GIVING SHORT-TERM SENTENCING WITH A LOT OF TIME OVER OUR HEADS, BASICALLY, YOU GAVE ME LIFE WITHOUT GIVING ME LIFE. IT'S SAD THAT CONGRESS REFUSE TO SEE THEIR LIES AND HOW THEY USE SUCH WORDS AS CORRECTIONS & PRISON REFORM & SOCIETY AND DOES NOT EVEN BELIEVE IN IT. PLEASE SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE BROKEN STRUCTURE OF THIS CORRUPTED SYSTEM AND HELP THOSE COME HOME BECAUSE THE SOCIETY GLENN YOUNGKIN SPEAKS ABOUT DOES NOT INCLUDE OUR LOVED ONES AND FRIENDS, IT ONLY CONTAINS HIS PEERS THOSE IN CONGRESS AND THOSE WHO AGREE WITH HIM!!!!!

THEY TALK ABOUT PRISON REFORM, BUT FROM WHAT I'VE SAW AND READ IN THE WEBSTER DICTIONARY DOES NOT MATCH UP WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS OR CONGRESS TRUE MEANS WHEN THEY SAY PRISON REFORM. THE MAIN DEFINITION OF PRISON IS A INSTITUTION FOR THE IMPRISONMENT OF PERSONS CONVICTED OF SERIOUS CRIMES. REFORM ALSO HAS A LIST OF DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS BUT ALL SAYING THE SAME THING (TO AMEND OR IMPROVE BY CHANGE OF FORM OR REMOVAL OF FAULTS OR ABUSES.2 TO PUT OR CHANGE INTO AN IMPROVED FORM OR CONDITION. AS I CONTINUE TO READ ON ABOUT REFORM I ASK MYSELF HOW CAN CONGRESS AND THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS USE TWO WORDS BUT ONLY BELIEVE IN ONE (PRISON) AND NOT(REFORM)? OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM IS SO FAR OUTDATED AND IT DOES NOT HELP THE PEOPLE (SOCIETY) IT ONLY HELPS THOSE WHO MAKE THE LAWS (CONGRESS). HOW CAN THOSE BEHIND THE WALL BETTER THEMSELVES IF THE ODDS ARE STACKED AGAINST THEM AN THE SYSTEM IS ONLY HELPING INMATES RETURN TO PRISONS THEY WERE CONFINED TO FOR YEARS BECAUSE THERE IS NO REAL (PRISON REFORM) OR ACTUAL HELP WHILE SERVING TIME. WHEN READING THIS I DONT WANT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE VICTIM OR WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN THREW, BUT I WOULD LIKE THE WORLD AND CONGRESS TO KNOW THAT THOSE BEHIND THE WALL BECOME VICTIMS WHILE SERVING TIME. WITH THAT BEING SAID (CHANGE IS NEEDED FOR (EVERYONE) NOT JUST THE OFFENDER BUT ALSO THOSE WHO RUN THE PRISON DOWN TO THE GUARDS, COUNCILORS, WARDENS AND CANT FORGET(CONGRESS).
