VIRGINIA POLITICIANS TURNED THE POSITION, DIRECTOR OF THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS INTO A DICTATORSHIP AS IF THEY HAD FORGOTTEN THAT "ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS" By William Thorpe

By rayhel
The current Dictatorship, that is The Director of The Virginia Department of Corrections, Chadwick Dotson has for a majority of his Professional life (i.e a Wise County Circuit Court Judge, Chair of The Virginia Parole Board, to name a few) been in positions of subjective authority where oversight and its accountability dynamic was merely speculative. In other words Chadwick Dotson has for a quantitative amount of his life been under the assumption that he was beyond reproach, that his conclusions and judgements were sound and in his and his obligations interest. Not that he is unique in that regard considering that as humans we all to a degree appreciate our conclusions and judgements to be just that, in that proverbial "best interest", but for the majority of people and The Virginian in particular, (because this work focuses on Virginia) we are constantly reminded by the immediacy of scrutiny by our Social Contract terms, that our subjectivity must be constantly tempered and assessed with all of this being done or acted out under a variety of scenarios, circumstances and conditions. I'm saying all of this to characterize those germane distinctions with for example a Chadwick Dotson whose life existence is relatively unquestioned to that of the typical and average Virginian. But as soon as our human condition developed and structured, what is the Social Contract, which then demanded and required that its terms become responsibilities and obligations that are articulated, in other words, its anthropomorphication and the official or bureaucrat or as it relates to this work, a Chadwick Dotson was made with the distinction that this new human existence is without the typical and average subjectivity of a regular human meaning the Chadwick Dotson emergence isn't and wouldn't be subject to the immediate scrutiny of The Social Contract. Being all things what they typically are, the idea of a new type of human whose judgements and assessments would be taken and valued on its face fell into that consequential category of "the road to hell is paved with good intentions", because that has been its empirical reality or to use Chadwick Dotson's lingua franca, "evidence based", because, and this is where we find the inherent corruption of that anthropomorphication of "terms "of The Social Contract, or as it relates to this work the de jure Dictatorship of the position, Director of The Virginia Department of Corrections by Virginia Politicians.

Look people, I'm a prisoner who has been and is under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Virginia pretty much all of my life, since the age of 20 and I'm now 65, my nickname is SPORTY BLACK.I have experienced and been subjected to Virginia's idea of imprisonment in all its forms, from what is termed General Population to Solitary Confinement to my current state of exile to the Texas prison system, where I'm still held in solitary confinement. As such all that I say about Virginia is based on the intimacy of my knowledge and in extension grasp of our human condition. So with this stated, let me get into it with this unequivocal declaration, which I've stated in previous works: The Virginia Department of Corrections is inherently corrupt and this doesn't necessarily mean that its human elements administering its existence are intrinsically corrupt but what I'm saying and by the way, (this isn't unique to The Department), is the existing and current terms of The Department's formulations or its idea and understanding of itself as "agency" is corrupt, because of the idealistic nature of its "accountability". I started with explaining, what is Chadwick Dotson in the role of Director of The Department and how Virginia legislators made legal that historically well understood corruption of absolute power corrupts by codifying the de jure Dictatorship of the Director of The Virginia Department of Corrections at Virginia Code Title 53.1 at 53.1-10 and regardless of reason have enabled in the continuation of the corrupting of The Department. The presumption of authority and power is it will be exercised, applied and utilized necessarily. Consequently the emergence and existence of power anticipates accountability, a process that is equal to its objective. So those Virginia politicians who made the Director of The Virginia Department of Corrections an absolute position should have understood the historical inherency of corruption and in particular the corruption of The Directorate of The Virginia Department of Corrections and what they had done and subsequently established equivalent process of accountability, but they didn't. Now let me say this, notwithstanding the responsibility of those Virginia politicians, primacy is with The People of Virginia to understand that whatever good intentions their politicians and legislators had, without equal measure of accountability, it was practically a transit to hell and perdition and here is also proof of point of the inherency of corruption. The exercise of the required process of accountability is also dependent on acceptance of its duty, which would then imply duty of citizenship or that colloquial and provincial, civic duty, which by the way is understood amorphously as such corruptly. So in the face of all of this confusion what The Social Contract is left with is a Chadwick Dotson to his own suppositions, biases and prejudices, to do as he considers fit and we see its expressions with, Chadwick Dotson telling us that, Virginia prisoners who are self-immolating, setting themselves on fire, isn't nothing because they weren't consumed in the flames, which is his response to the timid and feeble process of accountability that came his way. So we again see this idealistic exercise of judgement by the Directorate of The Virginia Department of Corrections over the practicality of allowing the Virginia prisoner access to phones on electronic Tablets which prison systems four fold, even five fold the size of Virginia's system, dealing with the same issues and concerns have seen fit to make accessible to their prisoner population, yet Chadwick Dotson hems and haws which leaves us with one conclusion, he values the mayhem.

THE FAILINGS OF CORPORATE MEDIA BROUGHT US TO THIS POINT, WHERE VIRGINIA PRISONERS HAVE TO SET THEMSELVES ON FIRE TO SAY WITH THEIR BURNING FLESH THAT CHADWICK DOTSON'S VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS IS SAVAGE AND BARBARIC By William Thorpe

When Virginia politician's aka legislators decided that what The People of Virginia needed was a Dictator running The Commonwealths Prison system, impunity and its battalions were given their battle orders. In other words the dragon's teeth of savagery and barbarity were sown and forever we have witnessed its spawn. This work isn't intended to give another listing of the depravity done under cover of law by the Virginia prison official, but what I intend on doing is remind The Virginia people that we can't have it both ways. We can't on the one hand indulge in the demented deviance of a Donald Trump in his 34 felony count convicted self haranguing us about criminality when we can count on one hand the number of people who have single handedly destroyed the very utility of law as he has with our permission. While we peculiarly struggle to reclaim the ensuing , resulting emasculation by scapegoating the imprisoned Virginian because as craven a deed, hasn't our universal human history taught that its always convenient and cathartic to take advantage of the deprived right?.With that then accomplishing a complicity of the worst kind, that of mocking and betraying the very mythology of our existence. What this period in our history demands is individuals understanding that breaking law in the treatment of the Virginia prisoner is also a violation and betrayal of trust and faith in The Social Contract.

THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS IS A GANG, REFUSING TO COMPLY WITH LAW WHILE USING LAW TO DO ILLEGAL, LAWLESS AND REPREHENSIBLE DEEDS By William Thorpe

Pictures are taken from the internet and are used for illustrative purposes only"
The Virginia Department of Corrections, in the administration, management and operation of Virginia prisons and the many forms of Virginia's Justice Infrastructure, acts and speaks through its many departmental Policies and Operating Procedures under the statutory authority and provisions of Virginia Code Section 53.1.Titled: PRISONS AND OTHER METHODS OF CORRECTIONS. The Law has 15 Chapters, starting with ADMINISTRATION GENERALLY and concluding with CORRECTIONS PRIVATE MANAGEMENT ACT or better known as MAKE MONEY OFF LOCKING PEOPLE UP. Now I'm stating all of this to show that The Virginia Department of Corrections is in fact a creation of Law as such is subordinate to the desires, intentions and will of The People of Virginia as expressed by their voting exercise. In otherwords, the politicians voted in who in turn express those desires, intentions and will. Secondly, law requires an operative or accountability and process which inherently is conditionally transparent. Thirdly all of what I've said requires the human actor in other words, the people the Virginia voter elects for the purpose of objectifying their desires, intentions are the ones then tasked with ensuring the accountability of law, its process and conditional transparency. So when for example the Virginia prison official is being their corrupt professional self, we first look to why the elected politician is allowing and permitting it and once we understand that its because the elected politician isn't fulfilling and serving in the role of and doing their tasked oversight and accountability function, then it turns to the people to quickly vote the offending politicians out and replace them with those responsible enough, mature enough and honest enough to follow the desires, intentions and will of the people. This work isn't intended to instruct and lecture anyone, instead what I'm showing is no ones hands are clean, or innocent, yes there is always complicity regardless of reason, which considering the fact we are all human runs the gamut, but what this work unequivocally declares is, if Virginia's Justice Infrastructure and its Department of Corrections is lawful, which I've shown is in fact that, a lawful construct, then as The People of Virginia, we cannot tolerate and have that fly in the ointment of the Virginia prison official being reprehensible under the cover of that lawfulness, thereby making a mockery of that most basic of humanness, the intelligence. For too long, Virginia politicians, Democrats and Republicans alike have conveniently and simply blamed, which in fact is scapegoat the Virginian prisoner at the expense of the basic or functional commonsense required in all other facets and aspects of the daily existence of the Virginian voter because the voter has acted as if those politicians knew better or understood better or were better equipped to speculate on matters and issues of "justice" in a contemporary and modern society as the Commonwealth of Virginia. So when tired, stale and decrepit speculative ideas of "justice" and human behavior were dredged up, repackaged and imposed on society, people responded as if the graphically naked emperor had on clothes. I haven't wasted the readers time and energy with another voluminous recitation of the Virginia prison official's barbarity, savagery and reprehensible deeds, because court records, law books filling shelves of Virginia's law schools do that, all the voter has to do is read.

Unmasking Red Onion State Prison: A Microcosm of Systemic Corruption By Kimberly Zittlow

*Pictures are taken from the internet and are used for illustrative purposes only"

The United States leads the world in incarceration, with over 1.8 million individuals behind bars. While the entire prison system is plagued with inefficiencies and injustices, Red Onion State Prison in Virginia stands out as a glaring example of everything that’s wrong. Beneath its supermax label lies a system riddled with corruption, cruelty, and a total disregard for rehabilitation. The time has come to shut Red Onion down, hold its leadership accountable, and reimagine the role of incarceration in America.

The Deep Rot Within Red Onion State Prison

Red Onion State Prison has become infamous for its culture of abuse, secrecy, and unchecked power. Reports from whistleblowers, investigative journalists, and former inmates reveal a horrifying picture: guards who use violence as a tool of control, medical staff who neglect basic care, and an administration that systematically buries allegations of misconduct. This isn’t a case of a few bad apples—the entire system is designed to dehumanize.

At the heart of the abuse is solitary confinement. At Red Onion, inmates are locked in isolation for 23 hours a day, sometimes for years on end. The psychological toll is staggering. Research consistently shows that prolonged solitary confinement causes severe mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and hallucinations. At Red Onion, these effects are compounded by reports of physical abuse, racial discrimination, and retaliation against inmates who speak out. The administration’s response? Silence or outright denial, perpetuating a system where abuse thrives unchecked.

The Human Toll of a Broken System

The impact of Red Onion’s practices isn’t confined to its walls. Inmates released from such an environment are often deeply traumatized, ill-prepared for reintegration, and more likely to reoffend. Solitary confinement and neglect strip away a person’s humanity, leaving them with little hope and fewer opportunities.

Medical neglect at Red Onion is equally damning. Chronic illnesses go untreated, injuries are ignored, and mental health care is almost nonexistent. Whistleblowers have described systemic delays and outright refusals in providing medical attention. The result is unnecessary suffering and, in some cases, preventable deaths. Such negligence is a stark reminder of how deeply flawed the system has become.

A Symptom of a Larger Problem

Red Onion isn’t an anomaly—it’s a magnifying glass over the failures of the U.S. prison system. Across the country, incarceration prioritizes punishment over progress. Nearly 65% of inmates struggle with substance abuse disorders, and countless others face untreated mental health challenges. Yet, instead of addressing these root causes, the system doubles down on punitive measures, perpetuating cycles of crime and incarceration.

What Must Change

The solution begins with acknowledging that Red Onion’s existence is indefensible. Its closure is a necessary step, but the transformation cannot stop there. The entire prison system needs a paradigm shift.

Shut Down Red Onion and Demand Accountability

Red Onion’s operations must cease immediately. Its leadership should face thorough investigations, and those found guilty of corruption or abuse must be held accountable. Closing Red Onion would send a powerful message: systemic neglect and abuse will no longer be tolerated.

Reimagine Prisons as Centers for Rehabilitation

The prison system’s purpose should be to rehabilitate, not punish. Addiction treatment, education, and vocational training must become standard. Evidence shows that inmates who participate in such programs are significantly less likely to reoffend. Facilities must provide these resources to break the cycle of incarceration.

Enforce Transparency and Oversight

Unbiased, independent oversight is critical to preventing future abuses. Prisons must maintain external boards to monitor operations, investigate complaints, and ensure accountability. Whistleblowers should be protected and empowered to report misconduct without fear of retaliation.

Address Mental and Physical Health Holistically

Prisons must prioritize mental health care, including therapy, crisis intervention, and medication management. Comprehensive health care should be a baseline expectation, not a rare exception. At facilities like Red Onion, neglect has turned manageable conditions into life-threatening crises.

Learning from Global Models

Countries like Norway and Germany demonstrate that rehabilitation-focused systems are effective. In Norway, prisons emphasize education, therapy, and reintegration, resulting in recidivism rates below 20%. Germany’s system focuses on maintaining inmates’ connections to society, preparing them for productive lives after release. These models prove that humane incarceration works.

The Road Ahead

Transforming the U.S. prison system requires more than incremental change—it demands a complete rethinking of our approach to justice. Here’s what must happen:

Close Red Onion State Prison: Its closure is essential to dismantle the culture of abuse.

Investigate Corruption Thoroughly: Hold leadership accountable and prosecute misconduct.

Pass Legislative Reforms: Prioritize rehabilitation and allocate funds for education, addiction treatment, and mental health care.

Implement Oversight Mechanisms: Establish independent boards to ensure transparency and accountability.

Change Public Perception: Advocacy campaigns must emphasize the benefits of a rehabilitative approach.

The Moral and Practical Imperative

Red Onion State Prison stands as a monument to the failures of America’s prison system. Its corruption, abuse, and neglect are unacceptable. But Red Onion is more than just a failing institution—it’s a call to action. By closing it and embracing a rehabilitative model, the U.S. can move toward a system that values accountability, transformation, and public safety. The time to act is now.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Zittlow

TO PRESENT THE QUESTION OF THE BEHAVIOR OF THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS WITH THE REQUISITE SERIOUSNESS, WE NEED A PEOPLES ASSEMBLY BECAUSE VIRGINIA'S LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNOR ARE INCAPABLE By William Thorpe

If Virginia's Corporate media wasn't deluded with its idealistic and ingratiating business model and what I mean by that is, the notion that its ad buyers would frown, were it to actually start exposing the stunts played by our Government as controversial and would therefore find other points of selling their wares, Virginia would begin to be a developing and healthy society. But that isn't the case. Virginia's media, The Corporate or for profit media has always been a mechanism for the subordination of The People. It has always been a functionary, a support system enabling a specific type of speech. What I mean by speech is, the conceited narrative governing Virginia society and it plays out primarily on two fronts.(1) The Economy or to be accurate, The Political-Economy (2) The Justice Infrastructure and The Prison System. The basis of this speech is FEAR, what I mean by fear is simply this, those factions of Virginia society, whose narrative is the prevailing governing operative and force, are unwilling to trust The People's simple willingness and ability to UNDERSTAND, so everything is filtered through implausibility's, improbabilities, metaphysics and outright contradictions and its in that vein the media gets its cue, when it isn't explicitly told how to long handle dump the pablum on us, dumbing us, while as we behave as typical humanity, feigning literacy, ashamed to reveal that we have been duped, conned and taken advantage of. Because the criticism, "voting against ones interest" has become a white noise, badge of honor, attesting to that adage, "misery loves company "or perceiving our lot, vicariously, just as the low end "welfare recipient" is shamed, while the mega corporation is expected to get its gobble of "welfare" as subsidy, indicating its a smartly run company. The point being, all of this are aspects of Social-Contract interactions. But again, because the prevailing narrative is unable to, unless compelled, acknowledge that its point of view or speech, isn't absolute nor does it have a monopoly on anything, regardless of it's presumptions, and the primary means of this deed is Corporate Media we have to wide eye, expose it, particularly on the question of holding The Virginia Department of Corrections accountable. Our politicians are inarguably incapable of exercising oversight over Virginia's prison system, because they simply don't want to deal with it. So we get stunts like Governor Glenn Youngkin's recent Executive Order #36 treating the re-entry of the released Virginia prisoner into society as an after thought that nonprofits should address and find their social worth in. Well as I've already stated we ain't buying it. Virginia's Justice Infrastructure and its imprisonment scheme is to damn impactful on society to simply leave it up to colloquial suppositions and metaphysical speculations, which is the same ole, same ole age old controlling stunt played by the governing narrative of executive order #36 and if we are to say no, to that type of speech we have to practice our acceptance and understanding that as, Society and The People, those are our questions, those are our issues and with our debate and discussions we will reach our answers reflecting the objectivity of our human condition. The Virginia prisoner isn't apart, independent, superimposed on or alien to Virginia society but is quintessential to it, because its with the Virginia prisoner The People reveal their absolute sovereignty of WILL or STATE ORGANIZED VIOLENCE in all its antagonistic ignorance as The Social Contract.

Did Defenders of Virginia's General Assembly Actions On SB 1301 Question and Challenge Virginia Department of Corrections Assertion That It Would Cost $23 Million to Implement SB 1301 and Reform It's Use of Solitary Confinement By William Thorpe

Image William Thorpe

In a recent work: What's Wrong With the Virginia Department of Corrections and The Sordid Affair of SB 1301, A Prospective Reform of Solitary Confinement. I focused on the simple point that Virginia Department of Corrections was given veto over SB 1301 by Virginia politicians under a time-worn maneuver, which Senator Scott Surovell, D- Fairfax characterized as "information lawmakers get from the Department of Planning and Budget tends to go against bills that would reform the criminal justice system" [Quote from post: Senator Shocked by DOC Estimate of $23 Million To End Solitary Confinement In Prisons By Patrick Wilson 2/3/2021]

So in display of what has been passing for reform activism under its historical supposition that politicians and prison officials shouldn't be challenged or called out as we wage the struggle to reform prison and the injustices of criminal justice. Defenders of the pathetic machinations whereby SB 1301 died ignobly, instead of questioning and challenging VADOC's assertion that it would cost $23 million to reform not abolish but a mere reform of its use of Solitary Confinement took umbrage that I critiqued the gambit which was the sordid affair of SB 1301.

I state: The fact I have spent an aggregate of 35 years in VADOC's solitary confinement out of a 39-year imprisonment [now 41] and of the 35 a continuous and consecutive 25 since August 9th, 1996 of which 2 years, since May 29th, 2019 are now in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Solitary Confinement cage. Because when it became untenable for VADOC to tout its solitary confinement reduction while continuing to detain me and a number of others in its solitary savagery it exiled me to Texas for the continuance of my solitary confinement   doesn't give me any unique right to facts than those defenders of the pathetic machinations of the sordid affair of SB 1301. But what it unimpeachably allows me is the uncompromising opportunity to question the motive of those defenders, because their umbrage has a whiff of that tired, one set of rules and process for those who govern and another for the governed. Because how else are we to understand and accept their ire at the simple point my original work proffered to the Virginia taxpayer?

The incontrovertible facts are, the Virginia General Assembly during the emergence and existence of SB 1301 was controlled by Virginia Democrats. VADOC an exclusive function under the executive of Virginia was also held by Democrats. Those same Democrats who refused to and rejected reforming solitary confinement in the Commonwealth, abolished the death penalty and legalized recreational weed. So the issue isn't as defenders of the SB 1301 gimmick offer as apology, that SB 1301 proponents came close.

The issue is the simple, how do we the people hold government accountable. VADOC in its role of holding people in prison doesn't get to rewrite what is moral and legal and only by exposing the circumstance of SB 1301 can we call to account that tired habit of one set of rules and process for those would be petty tyrants in their governance and another for the governed.

Despite the indefensible stance by SB 1301 apologist, I still extend my hand to you in solidarity. The objective of justice and prison reform is a simple and straightforward one, Accountability, if VADOC wants to defend and justify the use of a barbaric and savage extra-judicial confinement let it do it in sunlight and not behind a $23 million gimmick that the very lawmakers who are naturally sympathetic to the prison officials logic and its accommodation see through it viz "everybody refuses to try to estimate the positive fiscal impacts of criminal justice reform," we get information that tends to bias, or create reasons to vote against a bill instead of a reason to vote for a bill."     Sen. Surovell

K9 Dog Units and Fists Are Not An Anomaly Used On Virginia Prisoners By Marcus Barbee

This account by prisoner Marcus Barbee is not anomalous or an anomaly yet is moderately the standard in light of the fact of what is happening to prisoners imprisoned in the Virginia Department of Corrections [VADOC]. We have to consider these prison employees responsible.

On Jan 16, 2019;  Mr. Barbee stated after because of an incident in the pod and a prison guard using unprofessional racist language towards him. The K9 unit officer XXX showed up with K9 c/o XXX (who) began punching me in the kidneys, c/o XXX (the c/o guard who used the unprofessionalism) began punching me in my right eye. XXX then began to choke me I began to black out (didn't know how long I was out). I then came to with the K9 engaged on my right leg for a good 3 to 4 minutes officers then placed me in handcuffs after dog finished biting me...I was then roughly snatched to my feet and taken to medical when I got into triage room a counselor with another officer I do not know with a video camera recording what counselor was saying suddenly he turned the camera off (unknown officer). And the counselor struck me in my left eye 2 times and threatened to kill me then Major XXX came in the room put his arm on my left shoulder while an unknown Sgt. punched me in my stomach (unlegible) the blue I almost threw up and hit the floor but Major Anderson was laughing while saying that's enough, that's enough I was then told I was going to be killed and was I ready to die. I was taken to a room and strapped down to a bed naked. All the nurse did was wrap my leg then I was strapped to the bed for 1 hour and 15 min. Red Onion Sherriffs was there to pick me up once I got to ROSP I was not fed for 3 or 4 days I was brought to C-5-03. 2-5-19 and was not seen by a nurse for 4 days that's when I asked the lord when I got the phone to lead my fingers to dial someone that will help me I dialed random numbers after third-time whomever number I dialed picked up I told them my situation they put me in contact with you and two other advocates in helping inmates have a voice in what goes on in prisons not only here but in surrounding prisons. To me that makes me feel as though I'm loved not only by God but by perfect strangers...

He ends his letter by thanking our fellow "vapac" committee member (Whom we thank so much for all she does, she is a blessing to many people that include many prisoners, "we love you, Erika") May God Bless everything you touch and do and aid you in all your work you do for prisoners & to succeed in all your goals in life.

Mr. Barbee has reached out asking for assistance in getting the "adequate" medical attention he is so bad in need of from his dog bites as of 3/20/19 they were not in the stage of healing properly. Also, the correctional staff is not providing official "paperwork/forms" Mr. Barbee is in need of to fill out as to follow policy and procedure pertaining to this matter. An excerpt from his letter reads: "officers here at Red Onion State Prison [ROSP] don't give paperwork that I need to go through the proper steps."

This incident began at Virginia's Wallens Ridge State Prison [WRSP] Then Mr. Barbee was transferred to ROSP.. We are asking citizens, advocacy groups, and for all those who care please contact Governor Ralph Northam, VADOC Harold Clarke, Secretary of Health, and the Warden of Red Onion State Prison Jeffery Kiser. Mr. Barbee is in need of urgent medical care as his "Dog Bite" wounds are still oozing.

Trans-Gender Translates Into: Unsanitary Conditions, Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Abuse at Virginia Prisons

TOTAL DISRESPECT AT VIRGINIA VADOC's INSTITUTIONS

Ja-Quitha Earth Camellia fka Steven Ray Delk TransWoman incarcerated in VADOC. (Name legally changed in VA.) (By the way, we at "vapacommittee" ask why the Virginia Department of Corrections is refusing to use her legally changed name?)

Upon arrival at Sussex 1 State Prison (S1SP) after an 8-hour ride from [Virginia] Red Onion State Prison in a steel box (a steal death trap) She, Ja-Quitha was subjected to blatant unmasked discrimination and sexual harassment by S1SP administration she is a bra and panty wearing girl known by the fact that is an essential critical element in her mental health treatment (Dr. Meredith R. Carey VADOC, her priority mental health provider) but S1SP gave her 3X boxer and so bra she has 38B breast so it is quite obvious that S1SP actions were geared to cause mental and emotional pain. (But Ja-Quitha knows the evils of the VADOC quite well she was RAPED at ROSP [Red Onion State Prison] physically and mentally (see active civil action (2) ) S1SP only stuck to the VADOC guideline in treating us transgender-women: It only got worst- (yes I was denied proper undergarments I am 5'7 168lb) (A 3X even if I were going to wear boxers).

Oh yeah, I was held in a visitor booth for 2 hours waiting to be seen by medical and today which is 1-13-19 as I write this I still have not seen a physician here at S1SP. But fear is as I was in the booth on 12-27-18 with full restraints including the black box what if I fall there is no one in the 4x6 to help me no security present. (Violation 3) I was denied my medical lotion and anti-embolism thigh highs, no hygiene no toothpaste, soap, deodorant or toothbrush for 7 whole days, no shower shoes.

I was forced to stand in a shower box after I refused to go into a cell with a broken toilet full of fermenting fecal matter and urine (see video footage of CO's gagging as they open the door to the cell 3B41 on 12-27-18,

I am being treated for PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I also suffer from all that comes with Gender Dysphoria. Fear consumes me but the VADOC's daily menu of subjection to hate bias prejudice abuse simply because I am Trans Gender & sexual makes life unbearable requiring constant therapy and treatment. I am being denied the basic of life. It is a sad day when life's essential needs are denied simply because I was born different then [than] you.

So VA. politicians, citizens and all of you: I nor any other Trans Gender sexual was sentenced to these acts of violence!!

So which of you will stand and with a beaming smile take credit yes proudly cradling the birth of your child the VADOC, S1SP, ROSP.

State Prisons of corruption.

Will you be there when they kill me?

Negligence of Sussex 1 State Prison

I was housed in 2A27, with a man who was completely incompatible with me. We went to all the people with power asking to be separated. We filed paperwork and did face to face begging.

I pointed out the facts to Staff ~ say we were incompatible. Age, Race, time are [is] the main grounds! They were ignored. I told Sgt. Evans, I feared for my life her response was "go to the cell."

On January 11, 2018 My celli and I got physical and the altercation ended tragically! No weapons were used!

The [Virginia] Department of Corrections failed yet again to protect and serve leading to the death of yet another man! And putting the other on long-term segregation [Solitary Confienment]

Am I wrong for defending myself when DOC wouldn't?

22years old

Dear People:
Please be informed this is another case of Institutional Staff unprofessional behavior that has resulted in another inmate losing his life and another one, the one referenced may end up with a charge of murder.

As this inmate explains he was put in a cell mistakenly and was promised he would be moved. He was not and after being in the cell a few days the problems started between him and his celli. He did many things to halt the coming altercation but no one helped him. He spoke with Lieutenants and other staff asking them all to move him out. He called home and spoke with his grandmother about it. He even got other inmates to sign a written petition detailing his need to be removed from the cell and they didn't pay him any attention.

After he and his celli began to fight at least two officers were on another pod and knew they were fighting and did not come to stop it. Inmate Byrd says they fought for 2 hours without a weapon and yet after the fight the other inmate later died.

This is a very tragic matter and the Staff is to blame for the inmate's death. They should be terminated. Someone besides inmate Byrd should be held responsible and should receive all repercussions.

VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS OPERATING PROCEDURE "INCOMING PUBLICATIONS" CONCERNING FOREIGN LANGUAGE

When prisoners and families are faced with questions as it concerns the Virginia Department of Corrections [VADOC] the only approach is to refer to the VADOC Operating Procedures first, secondly visiting the relevant policy, from there this is the guidelines for which prisoners will follow to file his/her complaints and grievances. We at vapac [Virginia Prisons Accountability Committee] will be periodically sharing policy and procedure on our site.

Correctional agencies must deliver clear and brief composed mandates for staff, prisoners, and the community. Given the issues of authoritative risk, accreditation benchmarks, case law, and the need to help proficient conduct, written policy and procedure is a requisite.

Prisoner family and friends should go on the VADOC website and familiarize yourselves with the policy and procedure so you can understand what prison guards are SUPPOSE to do.

Recently vapac received a concern from a prisoner family member pertaining to "incoming mail and publications as it pertains to foreign language" sharing their concern stating "just because somethings in a different language and they can't read it, doesn't mean that the inmate shouldn't get it! What do they do for the non-English speakers?" Unfortunately, as it pertains to "publications" policy considers and states "Publications that are written or communicated in languages other than English or Spanish that cannot be readily translated and reviewed for content pose an overriding security concern for the DOC." (note~see page 8 of 10).

We are highlighting this issue in hopes it will be of some help to other prisoners and their loved ones. Again every one familiarize yourself with VADOC policy and procedure as this is ammo to battle a war we more often than not find ourselves in the middle of.

Life-threatening Diseases & Conditions If Left Untreated Virginia Prisoners Will Become Sicker or Die

We at vapac have received many alarming letters concerning health.  Life-threatening diseases and conditions if left untreated will cause these prisoners to become sicker and in some instances can be fatal. A Prisoner imprisoned at Sussex 1 State Prison J. Davis (1097342) Suffers from the "silent killer" that has a known treatment and even a cure. In at least nine states, prisoners have filed lawsuits arguing that withholding drugs constitutes deliberate indifference to their dire needs, violating a constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishment. Delaying treatment and curing can have deadly consequences for Mr. Davis who shared with Mr. Shaheed Omar longtime prisoner advocate and collaborator with vapac that he is a great husband, father, son and is a man of faith and is in need of treatment the same treatment Mr. Omar was fortunate enough to get and was cured. We must ask how will Mr. Davis even be considered for a chance to become healthy again if the Sussex 1 State Prison Staff ignore his informal complaints and allow grievances to go unnoticed? Other prisoners who have medical issues whom have provided adequate documentation

  1.  Lester Hayes 1465707 he was in a bus accident on 4-18-17 and has not been Adequately medically treated. He also has issued of a different nature that is not being addressed today.
  2.  Yusuf Hakim Ali 1092185 Stomach and Colon Problems and is suffering very badly and can't get the help that he needs.
  3. Tarik Hudgins 1069060 Just received a letter from him which I have enclosed just one page of it about his feet.
  4.  Michael Kelly 1190718 has Disease called Graves Disease. He is currently at Sussex 1 but a prisoner of Red Onion. The only reason at Sussex is to get treatment for his medical condition but cannot get out of Solitary Confinement etc.
  5. Anthony Kirby 1314706 on 6-6-18 fell the on the floor the in the kitchen while no signs of wet floor were present. He is injured and needs help.
  6. Jeffrey Whitebey 1118137 Sussex 1 needs surgery on heart but is not getting help
  7. Marvin Rash 1428427 Sussex I Gastroenteritis problem with stomach and not able to get help.
  8. Robert Yeary 1035754 having problems with medical treatment for his dentures. Commissary does not sale denture adhesive chemical, therefore he cannot use his denture so he cannot eat properly.
Steve Herrick Director; Office of Health Services Virginia Department of Corrections your job description requires you to supervise all clinical department heads and the local health authorities at the facilities. Your overall responsibility is to assure efficient and quality care is provided to these incarcerated offenders. [prisoners]

It is obvious (in the accompanying documents we received complaints and grievances but for reason of lack of space we can not print all letters, however, copies can be obtained in writing) that these men are not being professionally addressed and need proper attention from every level of the Virginia Department of Corrections. Beginning with the officers who are supposed to provide counsel and words of instruction to inmates who have legitimate questions and requests, but are indifferent, then there are the prison registered nurses and prison doctors who are supposed to provide health care and related services, including advocacy, health education, preventive care, research, and clinical care to prisoners, however, they are also on many occasions indifferent. The requirement is for prison staff, officers, doctors, and nurses to adhere to prison regulations, agency rules and last but not least the law. Director Steve Herrick & Director Harold Clark, we ask you to look into the matter of these life-threatening Diseases and conditions if left untreated, these Virginia prisoners will become sick or/and die.
